LAS GUERRAS DE HIERRO de Paul Kearney

Su nombre es Corfe, único superviviente de la guarnición de Aekir, arrasada por los invasores merduk. Su vergüenza es haber sobrevivido cuando sus compañeros murieron, pero ahora tiene la oportunidad de enderezar su destino.

Tras destacar en la defensa del dique de Ormann, último baluarte del reino de Torunna, Corfe es destinado a la capital, un nido de intrigas donde el recién llegado, que comienza a estar rodeado de una aureola de heroísmo, es recibido con envidia.

El apoyo de la reina madre asegura a Corfe un mando, pero el resentimiento del rey lo reduce a un puñado de salvajes convictos sin pertrechos ni monturas. Sin embargo, Corfe convierte a sus reos montañeses en una fuerza temible y prueba su valía. Ahora deberá enfrentarse al poderoso enemigo merduk, detenido pero no derrotado, dispuesto a jugarse el todo por el todo y culminar su conquista de Occidente.

Mientras, en el extremo opuesto de Normannia, el rey Abeleyn de Hebrion ha recuperado el trono, pero yace víctima de sus heridas. Los rumores lo dan ya por muerto, y la frágil paz obtenida a un alto precio amenaza con quebrarse.

Y al otro lado del océano, en el Nuevo Mundo, una fuerza antigua se estremece, aúlla su furia y aguarda su momento para revelarse.
