PERDICIÓN (1944) de Billy Wilder

Película basada en una novela de James M. Cain. Con guión de Raymond Chandler (“Extraños En un Tren”, “El Sueño Eterno”) y Billy Wilder (“Con Faldas y A Lo Loco”, “El Apartamento”).

En la ciudad de Los Angeles, un agente de una compañía de seguros (Fred MacMurray) y una cliente (Bárbara Stanwyck) traman asesinar al marido de esta última para así cobrar un cuantioso y falso seguro de accidentes.
Todo se complica cuando entra en acción el investigador de la empresa de seguros, Barton Keyes (Edward G. Robinson).

 

Una de las grandes joyas del cine negro es este film dirigido por Billy Wilder, quien con la inestimable ayuda de Raymond Chandler, escribió un extraordinario guión que adaptaba la novela de James M. Cain “Three of a kind”.

Narrado en flashback con voz en off de Fred MacMurray, en un personaje que en principio iba a ser para Dick Powell o George Raft, la película cuenta con dos partes claramente diferenciadas.
La primera detalla la atracción sexual, el plan del homicidio y la posterior ejecución del crimen, mientras que la segunda narra la investigación del siniestro por parte del astuto perito de la compañía de seguros (un sensacional Edward G. Robinson), en la que se dibuja con habilidad la angustia sufrida por los personajes involucrados en el crimen (en especial por parte de MacMurray) ante el temor del descubrimiento del asesinato y el consiguiente fraude.

Todo ello está engranado a la perfección por parte de Wilder, quien desarrolla la acción con su habitual mano maestra, dotando a la historia de una enorme intensidad gracias a la valía de la intriga, una penetrante conducción narrativa, unos diálogos antológicos, unos sugestivos caracteres de psicología bien roturada, y una atmósfera fascinante, enfatizada de manera espléndida por John Seitz.

El personaje femenino, de una frialdad ofuscadora, caracterizado por una espléndida Barbara Stanwyck, con una peluca rubia platino y una pulsera en su tobillo, pasó a engrosar la lista de las mejores femme fatales que ha conocido el séptimo arte.

Visto lo visto, es una lástima que Billy Wilder no incidiera más en el cine negro, pues pocos títulos en la historia del género poseen el magnetismo de esta obra maestra.
